Research on Earthquake Resistant Concrete Frame funded by Shah Cement
For the first time in Bangladesh, a research on “earthquake resistant structure” was done with detailed testing of 21 concrete frames in BUET-JIDPUS Lab. In this research, different frame with different concrete strength and reinforcement designed for multi-storied residential building were tested whether they can withstand during most severe earthquake. This test was done by using a mechanical shake table. Shah Cement was used to make concrete for this research. From this research it was found that if the designed strength of concrete and proper reinforcement can be ensured with special bracing system, any structure can withstand during severe earthquake.
